In seinen Gifford Lectures 2019/2020 geht Michael Welker dem Wirken des g?ttlichen und des menschlichen Geistes in unseren sp?tmodernen pluralistischen Kulturen nach. Unter R?ckgriff nicht nur auf religi?se Quellen, sondern auch auf Erfahrungen im Dialog mit Vertretern der Naturwissenschaften, Rechtswissenschaften, der Philosophie und der Soziologie gewinnt er Einsichten in das multimodale Wirken des Geistes. W?hrend zahlreiche Entwicklungen der Menschheitsgeschichte die Bestimmung der Menschen zum Bild Gottes h?chst fragw?rdig werden lassen, erschlie?t der multimodale Geist der Gerechtigkeit, der Freiheit, der Wahrheit und des Friedens die Kr?fte, die Leben gem?? der Bestimmung zum Bild Gottes erm?glichen.
Dieser neue Zugang zu einer nat?rlichen Theologie macht deutlich, warum der menschliche und der g?ttliche Geist nicht angemessen in bipolaren Beziehungen zu erfassen sind und der menschliche Geist nicht auf das Denken reduziert werden darf. Das Buch m?chte verdeutlichen, was die Bestimmung des Menschen zu Gottes Bild besagt - ein Leben gepr?gt vom Geist der Gerechtigkeit, der Freiheit, der Wahrheit und des Friedens.

[On the Image of God. An Anthropology of the Mind]
In his Gifford Lectures 2019/2020 Michael Welker explores the workings of the divine and human spirit in our late modern pluralistic cultures. Drawing not only on religious sources but also on experiences in dialogue with representatives of the natural sciences, law, philosophy and sociology, he gains insights into the multimodal workings of the spirit. While numerous developments in the history of mankind make its determination to be in the image of God highly questionable, the multimodal spirit of justice, freedom, truth and peace opens up the forces that make life possible according to this determination.
This new approach to a natural theology makes clear why the human and divine spirit cannot be adequately grasped in bipolar relationships and why the human spirit cannot be reduced to thinking. The book seeks to clarify what the determination of the human being to be in the image of God means - a life marked by the spirit of justice, freedom, truth and peace.

Biographie:
Michael Welker, Dr. Dr. h.c. mult., Jahrgang 1947, ist Seniorprofessor f?r Systematische Theologie und Direktor des Forschungszentrums Internationale und Interdisziplin?re Theologie an der Universit?t Heidelberg. Er ist Honorarprofessor der Seoul Theological University und Mitglied der Heidelberger und der Finnischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. 2016 erhielt er den Karl-Barth-Preis.
