This book reflects the current state of knowledge on sustainability in a wide range of fields, from engineering to agriculture, to education. Key aspects covered include the better and more responsible engineering and management of energy conversion processes, the development of renewable energy technologies, and improvements in conventional energy utilization and food production. In addition, the book addresses green buildings, the green economy, waste and recycling, water, ecopolitics and social sustainability.

Biographie:

Dr. Jacqueline A. Stagner is the Undergraduate Programs Coordinator in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Windsor, and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Mechanical, Automotive, and Materials Engineering. Dr. Stagner co-advises students in the Turbulence and Energy Lab, in the area of solar water desalination. Prior to working at the University of Windsor, she attained a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, a Master of Business Administration, and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. She has also worked as a release engineer in the automotive industry for 6 years.

David S-K. Ting worked on Combustion and Turbulence (Premixed Turbulent Flame Propagation) during his graduate studies. He then experimented with Convection Heat Transfer and Fluid-Structure Interactions prior to joining the University of Windsor. Professor Ting is the founder of the Turbulence & Energy Laboratory, and supervises students on a wide range of research projects primarily in the Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy areas. To date, he has co/supervised over seventy graduate students and co-authored more than one hundred and twenty journal papers. Fundamentally, this former jungle boy from the rainforests of Borneo remains astounded by the beautiful, orderly and yet unfathomable creation. His love is still faithfully devoted to Flow Turbulence.
