Theodore Dreiser (1871-1945) was a prominent American journalist and novelist who made important contributions to the literary naturalism movement. Dreiser was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on August 27, 1871, and was raised in a working-class household. His early life and difficulties with poverty had a big impact on the writing he produced later. Because of his novels' candid depictions of sexuality and social issues, Dreiser faced criticism and restriction, but his writings were vital in forming American literature. His naturalistic approach deviated from popular literary traditions by highlighting the impact of environment and genetics on human behavior. In addition, Dreiser was a journalist who wrote for magazines including Harper's Magazine and The New York Times. Throughout his career, he participated in literary and political circles and was an advocate for social justice. On December 28, 1945, Theodore Dreiser passed away. He is remembered for being a significant figure in American literature and a forerunner of literary naturalism....

Theodore Herman Albert Dreiser (27 August 1871 - 28 December 1945) was an American novelist and journalist of the naturalist school. He attended Indiana University from 1889 - 1890 without obtaining a degree. Within several years he became a journalist for the Chicago Globe newspaper and then the St. Louis Globe-Democrat. Dreiser was also involved in several political campaigns defending radicals whom he believed had been the victims of social injustice, including lynching victims and unions. Dreiser had an enormous influence on the generation that followed his, with some of his most notable works of literature being Sister Carrie and An American Tragedy.

American author and journalist Theodore Dreiser (1871-December 28, 1945) was a naturalist. In several of his works, the main characters achieved their goals despite the absence of a clear moral code. The best-known books of Dreiser are An American Tragedy and Sister Carrie (1900). John Paul Dreiser and Sarah Maria (n?e Schanab), his parents, welcomed him into the world in Terre Haute, Indiana. German immigrant John Dreiser came to Prussia from Mayen in the Rhine Province. Near Dayton, Ohio, Sarah was a native of a Mennonite agricultural village. Dreiser began working for newspapers in Chicago, Saint Louis, Toledo, Pittsburgh, and New York in 1892 as a reporter and theatrical critic. An American Tragedy, which was published in 1925, was Dreiser's first literary triumph. His older brother Paul Dresser, who rose to fame as a musician in the 1890s, was the subject of Dreiser's short tale My Brother Paul. In 1918, he released his first collection of short tales, Free and Other Stories. The idea of poverty and ambition is continued in his poem The Aspirant from 1929....
