With support of everyone from their mother, brothers, and sister, to the nurses, surgeon, anesthesia provider and the hospital chaplain, the girls are able to go through their procedure without a hitch.The twins are great role models. They follow directions carefully and do not become too afraid to continue with what they know needs to be done.This is a book that many children and families will be able to relate to; with the sheer number of people who have their tonsils removed in childhood. This book will: give children a glimpse of the world of health care in a safe and entertaining way.help parents inform their children about having surgery and make it less scary.introduce children to professionals they may not have encountered before.help children feel comfortable with doctors, nurses, and other health care professionalsintroduce children to the concept of not being able to eat or drink anything prior to surgery. Kathy Stitz has been a Registered Nurse for over forty years. She has been employed in numerous specialties throughout her nursing career, from obstetrics during her tour of duty in the Air Force, to education, infection control, administration, and surgical services. Her major love has always been patient education. She has written on the subject for nursing magazines and spoken at several nursing conferences. Kathy is married and lives with her husband JD near Seattle, Washington. She has recently retired and is in the process of writing a series of books to prepare children for having surgery.
