Medication management is an essential component of therapeutic success in the treatment of chronic diseases. However, patients who do not regularly take their prescribed medications are a primary concern of health systems worldwide. A significant proportion of patients on chronic medications fail to adhere to their treatments, and suboptimal adherence leads to dire clinical and financial consequences on the personal level. Moreover, non-adherence can adversely impact public healthcare costs and the clinical outcomes of patients. Design and Quality Considerations for Developing Mobile Apps for Medication Management: Emerging Research and Opportunities is a collection of innovative research that combines theory and practice on optimizing strategies to improve medication adherence and overall health and wellbeing in patients through the design of usable and reliable mobile app-based systems. Highlighting a broad range of topics including pharmaceutical care, quality assessment, and health behavior frameworks, this book is ideally designed for clinicians, pharmacists, healthcare providers, programmers, software developers, researchers, academicians, and students.
Biographie:
Dr. Kevin Yap is an inter-disciplinary cyber-pharmacist at School of Public Health and Psychology, La Trobe University, Australia. He has knowledge in digital media creation, web databases, data mining and analytics. His interests span the whole digital healthcare innovation cycle through the development, utilization, application and/or evaluation of informatics, internet, digital and other health-related technologies in various healthcare settings to enhance medications management in patients, as well as the flow of drug-related information and knowledge to healthcare professionals and patients (e.g. drug databases, mobile apps, telemedicine, social media, virtual platforms, serious games). He has over 90 publications in peer-reviewed journals and presented at more than 70 local and international conferences. His work has also been featured in various media channels. He has received many awards, including the Young Investigator Award (Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer) and the Re-imagine Education International Awards in 3 categories. He is on several journal editorial boards and an invited reviewer for over 30 international journals, conferences and grants.
