The roles and responsibilities of the principal position have become more complicated and critical than ever before. Due to the increased demand and focus on student outcomes and accountability, the school leaders of today face ever-increasing expectations. As the role of the principal evolves in its complexity and accountability, the need for ongoing systemic professional development evolves as well. It is of critical importance that educational leaders begin and maintain their roles with an appropriate level of leadership growth and opportunity for continued learning. In Professional Development for School Leaders, Dr. Troy Galow and Dr. Craig Hammonds investigate the professional development experiences of principals in a select region of Central Texas. They address the overall training that principals receive for professional development, as well as specific supports they receive at the district and campus level. Dr. Galow and Dr. Hammonds present research findings to help guide school leaders, college programs, and providers of principal professional development on how best to meet the needs of campus leaders....
Biographie:
Dr. Troy Galow is Deputy Superintendent of the Pflugerville Independent School District.Dr. Craig Hammonds is Assistant Professor of Education and Director of Educational Administration (M.Ed.) programs at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas.
