When children play and explore together, imagination electrifies the landscape. Later as we recall memories of sand on our toes, seagull squawks, and water crashing along pilings-or the camaraderie of working together to fulfill a valuable task-we bring forth our dreams and make them real. Perhaps with a little wisdom, we start to ask about our impact on the environment and wonder if we could make smaller footprints. We learn to become caretakers of the wonders surrounding us. Beachcombers captures just such a moment when young people recognize themselves as part of a delicate ecosystem and appreciate their role in giving back to a world rich in beauty.
