Présentation The Sisters de Lawrence, D. H. Format Relié
- Livre Littérature Générale
Résumé :
D. H. Lawrence's The Sisters is an early work that reveals the author's penetrating insight into family relationships, emotional conflict, and the search for personal independence. Written during the formative period of Lawrence's literary career, the story reflects many of the themes that would later shape his major novels. Set within the social world of early twentieth-century England, the narrative explores the complex lives of two sisters whose differing temperaments and ambitions bring them into conflict with family expectations and with each other. As their lives unfold, Lawrence examines the emotional pressures of family loyalty, romantic desire, and the struggle to define one's own identity. Lawrence's writing combines psychological depth with vivid realism, portraying the subtle tensions that exist beneath ordinary domestic life. His characters wrestle with powerful inner desires while confronting the social conventions that seek to shape their choices. The Sisters offers readers an engaging glimpse into the early development of Lawrence's literary voice, revealing the themes of individuality, passion, and social constraint that would become central to his later fiction....

This novel follows generations of the Brangwen family, focusing on the sexual dynamics of, and relations between, the characters. Lawrence's frank treatment of sexual desire and the power plays within relationships....
