Emily Washborne, at 14, goes to live with her father and his new family. While they are away on vacation and she is visiting her mother, Emily has an emotional conversation that changes her life. By 18, she's homeless, and by 24, she's pregnant and married to an abusive schizophrenic/compulsive gambler. This honest and unapologetic story continues on to fascinate readers with tales of divorce, Child Protective reports, and support groups. Eventually, there's a search for something greater, something to lift her out of her dysfunction and toward divine intervention.
