An illustrated memoir of a sometimes all-consuming, always challenging, and ultimately freeing relationship with calligraphy over forty years. Susan's story is about more than how to hold a pen and form letters. It is about growing up and growing older, questioning and slowly finding answers-an inspiring read for artists and non-artists alike.
The book itself is a work of art. Measuring 8.5 by 11 inches, it is a perfect size-large enough to highlight the illustrations but small enough hold in your hands. There are 277 images (most in color and most of Susan's work) in 154 pages.
Biographie:
Susan's involvement in the arts includes roles as artist, teacher, speaker, writer, designer, and publisher. She works in multiple media with a focus on sculptural bookmaking and calligraphy. Her work has been featured in magazines (Somerset Studio, Fiberarts, Bound & Lettered, and Letter Arts Review) and books (1,000 Artists' Books, 500 Handmade Books, 500 More Handmade Books, Cover to Cover, The Art of the Handmade Book, and Handmade Books And Cards). It has been exhibited across the U.S. and Canada and in Korea.
