Présentation Adam's Contract With God de Custin, Heidi Format Broché
- Livre Science humaines et sociales, Lettres
Résumé :
This is the true story of Adam Custin, a young man who lived with mental illness from the age of fourteen, diagnosed with Schizophrenia at the age of twenty. This is a story designed to help others feel connected without sigma or shame who live with mental illness or have a loved one with mental illness in hopes that they will not feel so alone in their journey. I hope you will find that we all walk a similar path with different players, and we all need to fight together to end the stigma surrounding mental illness and support our loved ones who walk this journey. Adam's life had a lot of pain, sorrow, and disappointment, yet we never want to forget that is was a life filled with love and many joys as well. I hope this story will help you find peace and understanding....
Biographie:
Heidi Custin is a two time recipient for the Family Award for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for her work as a support group facilitator for families of people living with mental illness and for her contribution to Crisis Intervention Training for first responders in Kansas City, Mo. and many rural counties in Missouri. She was inducted into the National NAMI Hall of Fame in 2019. Heidi's passion for NAMI began in 2011 after her son, Adam was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. She participates in conferences and health fairs around the state of Missouri and began NAMI walks in the Greater Kansas City area in 2016, following the shutdown of the Kansas City affiliate. She then helped recruit many volunteers to continue to offer support groups and classes around the city. Heidi resides with her husband, Joe in Grandview, Missouri. They also have a daughter, Stephanie, also of Grandview.
