Nyx is a cold-blooded operative for Blacklight, a section of Amphictyony Security that does not officially exist. This is the collection of the first three books in her story. Target #1: Malache Nyx is a cold-blooded operative for Blacklight, a section of Amphictyony Security that does not officially exist. Deven, her boss, has dispatched her to the tropical world of Malache, there to kill a courier who is about to transfer classified information. Given minimal information in her briefing, she kills the wrong person. Ordered back to make amends, she finds herself in the middle of an intercorporate conflict where both sides want her dead. An old nemesis, the only person ever to have defeated her, is present on Malache as well. Her only allies are the lemroid, pacifist, sexually-tilted Malasy, and an anthropologist of questionable loyalties. To win this one, Nyx has to recover her lost femininity, and make the coldest sacrifice of all. Target #2: Myst?re A bomb-maker who calls himself Myst?re has been destroying corporate admin buildings on various worlds, and Deven has cut short Nyx's vacation and ordered her to find him and kill him. She has little data to guide her, but encounters an amnesiac young woman dubbed Zinc at one of the blast sites. Zinc may possess information that could lead to Myst?re, if only she can be made to remember. Meanwhile, an intrigue within Amphictyony Security has replaced Deven with a look-alike, and threatens to turn Blacklight Section against itself. Rogue agents have been dispatched to turn Nyx or kill her. Isolated, and under impossible orders, Nyx has few resources to marshal… until a surprise from her past shows up at her door. Target #3: The Protectors A corporate hierarch is en route to Adenne, the world where Nyx is spending her furlough. Because the corporation plans to exploit certain ore deposits, environmentalists from the radical group Ecotect are planning protests and violence, and Nyx is ordered to protect the hierarch from them. Also on Adenne is a top-ranking mortifice named Silver LeMay whose contract seems to include killing both Nyx and the hierarch, and who is aligned with Ecotect. Nyx has just two days to prepare for the hierarch's arrival. With the local constabulary and the enviromentalists pitted against her, Nyx's only ally might be the one person on Adenne who has specifically been assigned to kill her.
