MEI is a thirty year old woman working in a big bank. She believes herself to be happy, she has her own place, a good job and a boyfriend, DAVID. Over the course of a year, Mei's life goes through a transformation that changes her and how she looks at the world.
Mei and her boyfriend do not spend much time together as he is always away for his job. She lives in her parents home, while they are travelling around Europe.
On her way back from San Francisco, after a work conference, Mei receives a message from a man telling her it was nice to meet her. Thinking that they met on the trip, she responds, but he says he was not in San Francisco, he lives in Munich. Mei finds herself captivated by his blue eyes and cannot stop thinking about him.
Over the next few days, she keeps talking to him. He seems interested in her day, unlike David and she finds herself making up a more exciting story about her day to impress him. She feels that he understands her and he actually seems interested in her.
She is flattered by the attention, but keeps it secret, even from her best friend ANNE. She knows it is wrong, but she thinks she is falling for him. The longer this goes on, the more she finds herself slipping into a fantasy world, imagining their time together, than focusing on her actual life.
