Whether ERP software, office applications, open-source products or online games: In terms of its economic characteristics, software differs fundamentally from industrial goods or services. Based on the economic principles and rules of the software industry, the book reveals strategies and business models to software vendors that comprise cooperation, distribution, pricing and production and industrialization strategies, as well as software as a service and platform concepts. Further aspects including the outsourcing behavior of software vendors and users; providing business software as open source software; selecting software; and the value chains in the software industry are also addressed. Based on a number of expert meetings, it contains numerous case studies and new empirical findings. Target audience of the book are professionals and executives from the software, consulting and IT branches as well as students and scholars of business administration, computer science, business and industrial engineering.
Biographie:
Peter Buxmann ist Professor f?r Wirtschaftsinformatik an der Technischen Universit?t Darmstadt. Er befasst sich mit den ?konomischen Spielregeln der Software- und Social-Media-Industrie und forscht auf den Gebieten Informationsmanagement, Cloud Computing bzw. Software as a Service. 2006 gr?ndete er gemeinsam mit Thomas Hess die Software Economics Group Darmstadt-M?nchen. Heiner Diefenbach ist bei Fujitsu Vice President Services Central Europe und in dieser Funktion Gesch?ftsf?hrer der Fujitsu TDS GmbH und der Fujitsu Services GmbH. Als erfahrener CEO und CFO der IT-Industrie verantwortet er das SAP-Mittelstands- und Systemhausgesch?ft der Fujitsu TDS GmbH sowie das komplette Service Gesch?ft der Fujitsu f?r Deutschland, ?sterreich und der Schweiz. Thomas Hess ist Professor f?r Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Wirtschafts-informatik an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit?t M?nchen. In der Software Economics Group besch?ftigt er sich u. a. mit Gesch?ftsmodellen von Software- und Serviceanbietern, der Industrialisierung der Softwareentwicklung und mit Open Source.
