Janis Boyle Mayfield, of Houston and Shiro, Texas, was Zuber?s grandniece by marriage. She attended the University of Houston. Llerena Friend was a noted Texas historian who served as the director of the Barker Texas History Center (now the Center for American History) at the University of Texas at Austin.
