Stories have been told as far back as stories existed about monsters in dark places. Old Wives' tales to scare children into behaving. Stories kids tell each other with willful glee to see how much they can scare the other. When Nick, Ian, David, and Felicia go wandering in the woods, the kids stumble on something so terrible they are afraid to tell anyone about it. They make a pact to keep it secret. Two days later Nick and Felicia's family vanishes in the night. 12 Years Later David has never forgotten Felicia, the long-legged girl he was forced to spend time with looking after their younger brothers as they roamed the town and surrounding woods. Stuck growing up in that town, David and Ian could not forget that day in the woods that changed their world. Was what they found left by the rumored old Mill Road monster? Nick returns to dig into the past and learn the forgotten childhood memories that still haunt Felicia and him. Right after his return something shocking is found in the woods. Detective Liam Tobin with C. C. I., Cold Case Investigations, comes to investigate the discovery in the woods and the town's dark history. With Nick and Felicia's strange uncle Harvey suspected to be behind the new gruesome discovery in the woods and Nick's return, Felicia is forced to come back to the place where it all began, Havenwood. Everything centers around the old abandoned mill, where the stories of the old Mill Road monster were born.

Biographie:
L. V. Gaudet is a subjugated cubicle dweller by day and a Canadian author of dark fiction by night, a member of the Manitoba Writers' Guild, the Horror Writers Association, and Authors of Manitoba. L. V. grew up with a love of the darker side; sneaking down to the basement at night to watch the old horror B movies, Vincent Price being a favourite, devouring horror books, and has had a passion for books and the idea of creating stories and worlds a person can get lost in since reading that first novel. This love of storytelling has L. V. working writing and editing into a busy life that includes a full time job, family, and doing the little things to help the writing community including offering encouragement to others in the online writing community and volunteering time editing the Manitoba Writers' Guild newsletter and helping with their Facebook presence, proofreading for the HWA newsletter, and visiting schools for I Love to Read month.
