Immanuel Kants Grundlegung ist ohne Zweifel einer der bedeutendsten Texte der abendl?ndischen Moralphilosophie. Sie gilt mitunter allerdings auch als einer der dunkelsten Texte Kants - wenn nicht sogar der abendl?ndischen Philosophie ?berhaupt. Der Kommentar macht deutlich, dass die vorgebliche Dunkelheit im Wesentlichen der Tatsache geschuldet ist, dass der Text seit langem im Schatten der falschen Annahme gelesen wird, Kant wolle eine Begr?ndung (oder Rechtfertigung) des Sittengesetzes liefern, um damit den moralischen Skeptizismus abzuwehren. Liest man ihn stattdessen unter der (auch historisch angemesseneren) Perspektive, dass Kant mit dem kategorischen Imperativ 'nur' eine neue Formel f?r das Prinzip der allgemein im Schwange gehenden Sittlichkeit 'angeben und rechtfertigen' will, um so den moralischen Eudaimonismus durch eine Moral der Autonomie zu ersetzen - dann zeigt sich, dass der Text nicht blo? ein philosophisches, sondern zugleich ein schriftstellerisches Meisterwerk ist. Without doubt, Immanuel Kant's Grundlegung is one of the crucial documents of Western moral philosophy. However, it is sometimes considered to be one of Kant's - or even all of Western philosophy?s- darkest texts. The commentary makes it clear that the alleged darkness is essentially due to the fact that the text has long been read under a false assumption, insinuating that it was Kant?s foremost aim to provide a justification for the moral law in order to ward off moral skepticism. If one reads it instead with the understanding (which is also historically more appropriate) that with the invention of the categorical imperative Kant only wants to state and justify a new formula for the principle of morality in general in order to replace moral eudaimonism with a moral of autonomy -then it becomes readily apparent that the Grundlegung is not just a philosophical, but at the same time a literary masterpiece....
