Biographie:
G. A. Henty, full name George Alfred Henty (1832-1902), was a British novelist, journalist, war correspondent, and one of the most popular writers of historical adventure fiction for young readers in the late nineteenth century. Before becoming famous as a writer of boys' adventure stories, Henty worked as a correspondent, reporting on conflicts including the Crimean War, the Austro-Italian War, the Franco-Prussian War, and other major events of his time. That experience gave his fiction a strong interest in military action, travel, political conflict, survival, and the dramatic movement of history.Henty became best known for historical adventure novels in which young protagonists are placed in moments of danger and upheaval, often amid wars, exploration, colonial encounters, or national struggles. His books were widely read by boys and young adults and helped shape the tradition of Victorian and Edwardian juvenile adventure fiction. His storytelling is brisk, action-led, and strongly tied to the moral and imperial assumptions of his age. For modern readers, Henty's work is valuable both as adventure fiction and as a record of the attitudes, enthusiasms, and blind spots of nineteenth-century popular literature....
