        Xin Wei is a professor at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2005, and obtained his Ph.D. from Southeast University, China, in 2009. From 2010 to 2011, he conducted postdoctoral research at Zhejiang University in China. His research interests include the areas of multimedia communications, educational technology, smart buildings. In recent years, he has published numerous academic papers in journals like IEEE JSAC, IEEE TCOM, IEEE TCSVT, IEEE TMM, IEEE WCM, Computers & Education, Interactive Learning Environments, Building and Environment, Energy & Buildings. He won the IEEE TMM Best Paper Award in 2024. Dan Wu is professor in Army Engineering University of PLA, China. She earned her Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph. D. degrees from the Institute of Communications Engineering, PLA University of Science and Technology, China in 2006, 2009, and 2012, respectively. Her research interests are in the areas of multimedia communications and wireless communications. Liang Zhou is a professor and vice president at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2003 and 2006, respectively, and obtained his Ph.D. from Paris-Saclay University, France, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in 2009. Following this, he conducted postdoctoral research at ParisTech in France and the MIT in the USA. From 2010 to 2011, as a Humboldt Scholar, he carried out research at the Technical University of Munich in Germany. He has been honored with titles such as Distinguished Professor by the Ministry of Education (2020), National Excellent Young Scientist Fund (2013)...

        Xin Wei received his Ph.D. degree major at Information and Communication Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China in 2009. Now, he is an associate professor in Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China. His research interests are in the area of multimedia information processing, machine learning.
        Liang Zhou received his Ph.D. degree major at Electronic Engineering both from Ecole Normale Superieure (E.N.S.), Cachan, France and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China in 2009. Now, he is a professor in Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China. His research interests are in the area of multimedia communications and computing.

        This SpringerBrief discusses the most recent research in the field of multimedia QoE evaluation, with a focus on how to evaluate subjective multimedia QoE problems from objective techniques. Specifically, this SpringerBrief starts from a comprehensive overview of multimedia QoE definition, its influencing factors, traditional modeling and prediction methods. Subsequently, the authors introduce the procedure of multimedia service data collection, preprocessing and feature extractions. Then, describe several proposed multimedia QoE modeling and prediction techniques in details. Finally, the authors illustrate how to implement and demonstrate multimedia QoE evaluation in the big data platform. This SpringerBrief provides readers with a clear picture on how to make full use of multimedia service data to realize multimedia QoE evaluation.
        With the exponential growth of the Internet technologies, multimedia services become immensely popular. Users can enjoy multimedia services from operators or content providers by TV, computers and mobile devices. User experience is important for network operators and multimedia content providers. Traditional QoS (quality of service) can not entirely and accurately describe user experience. It is natural to research the quality of multimedia service from the users' perspective, defined as multimedia quality of experience (QoE). However, multimedia QoE evaluation is difficult, because user experience is abstract and subjective, hard to quantify and measure.
