      • Résumé :
This early work by G. K. Chesterton was originally published in 1911. Gilbert Keith Chesterton was born in London in 1874. He studied at the Slade School of Art, and upon graduating began to work as a freelance journalist. Over the course of his life, his literary output was incredibly diverse and highly prolific, ranging from philosophy and ontology to art criticism and detective fiction. However, he is probably best-remembered for his Christian apologetics, most notably in Orthodoxy (1908) and The Everlasting Man (1925). We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.

        Biographie:
Born and raised in London, Gilbert Keith Chesterton is well known for his satire and dry wit. In addition to his works of fiction, Chesterton wrote on theology, social criticism, and literature. He is widely considered the father of the modern detective story for his Father Brown series. Throughout his life, Chesterton wrote nearly a hundred books as well as hundreds of poems and short stories. He died in 1936 at the age of 62. His writings have served to shape more than one generation and will continue to do so for many years in the future. The Napoleon of Notting Hill is his first novel....

        Sommaire:
Gilbert Keith Chesterton was an English author, philosopher, Christian apologist, and literary and art critic, best known for creating the fictional priest-detective Father Brown. Born on May 29, 1874, in Kensington, London, Chesterton was educated at St. Paul's Juniors and University College London before studying at the Slade School of Fine Art. His career spanned a variety of genres, from fiction to essays, and he was deeply involved in Christian apologetics, with works like Orthodoxy and The Everlasting Man solidifying his place as a prominent thinker of his time. Chesterton's works often reflected his devotion to Christianity and his philosophical musings on society, morality, and faith. He was a close associate of Hilaire Belloc and was influenced by thinkers such as Thomas Aquinas and Charles Dickens. Chesterton married Frances Blogg in 1901, and the couple remained together until his death on June 14, 1936, at the age of 62 in Beaconsfield, United Kingdom. His literary legacy continues to influence writers and thinkers, and his Father Brown stories remain a celebrated part of detective fiction....
