Résumé :
Living above her yarn shop, A Simple Stitch, on Main Street in her hometown was the perfect life for Eliza. One of the original downtown buildings in Spring Forrest provided her the setting for the collection of antiques passed down and finds she picked up along the way. Her regulars at the Friday Knit Out group had become like a second family, leaning on each other through many of life's obstacles and celebrating life's joys. Her nephew CJ returned to open the old Caf? across the street after one short semester away at college. Eliza could see CJ was searching to fill a void in his life. It became more obvious with the holidays approaching. Feelings he couldn't explain, but Eliza could certainly understand. The Homestead, still intact from generations past, known as Slipknot Farm had become more important to CJ this year than ever before. Annie Simpkins, the new fifth-grade teacher from Texas, caught his eye and stirred his interest. Now, CJ felt the need for a family gathering stronger than ever before. During the fall, Main Street comes alive with return customers, old friends, and new faces. Slipknot is transformed with the changing seasons. Visitors drop in, stories are told of the days gone by, and Eliza's recipe box gets a workout. Everyone has a few surprises in the works, trying to make certain this season is more memorable than the last. Family priorities are realized, bonds are strengthened, and futures are as bright as the full moon shining over the barn at Christmas time. Come along and relive the stories of Mimzie and Papa at the Homestead. As their values and strengths are remembered, A Common Thread becomes more obvious to everyone. Take this journey, and you will want to join the gathering every Christmas at the Homestead and feel like you are there.
Biographie:
A bit about me... I'm still living in my century-old farmhouse in Southern Illinois. My surroundings are my inspiration. I love to share my version of Slipknot Farm when I get an opportunity. Upon the release of A Simple Stitch, A Time to Mend it was featured in our local newspapers. I knew this was an opportunity, so I invited my readers to come and experience my inspiration. An open house! I recruited a couple of friends, family and my publisher to help me with guests. Preparing three recipes that were mentioned throughout the first novel and the sequel had the refreshments covered. Soon, the moment of truth arrived as the clock chimed noon. In anticipation, I watched as the door opened and guests continued to arrive until four. Familiar faces that brought their friends with them. It was awesome. I enjoyed the feedback, or shall I say, compliments on my first novel, sharing the treats and giving tours of our comforting home. As an added touch, I created a make-shift 'Antiques & Uniques' with some of Aunt Mildred's finds for sale as well. A day I will never forget. It was humbling. This cookbook has been a true labor of love, as I wanted to share even more of my inspiration, passing on recipes collected throughout the years. It was a much larger project than I had imagined. I had the vision and wanted it to be special. That being said, I can now continue with my next novel in the series and then move on to the pre-quell. Writing is my passion. Sharing what I love is a bonus. So I will continue to enjoy this amazing journey that God has so graciously placed before me, knowing I could not do this alone, enjoying everyone that crosses my path along the way. Who knows where this ride will take me next! Kindly, DebO
