Présentation The Henry Drummond Reader de Drummond, Henry Format Relié
- Livre Sciences de la vie et de la terre
Résumé :
The essential works of Henry Drummond bring science and Christian faith into conversation while offering enduring guidance on love, character, spiritual growth, and the purpose of life. Henry Drummond was a Scottish natural scientist, lecturer, evangelist, and writer who became one of the most widely read religious thinkers of the late nineteenth century. His lectures attracted large audiences because he addressed difficult theological questions with unusual clarity, warmth, and intellectual curiosity. Rather than treating science and religion as enemies, he explored how the principles observed in nature might illuminate the spiritual life. This comprehensive omnibus gathers Drummond's most important books, lectures, papers, and addresses. Included are Stones Rolled Away and Other Addresses, The New Evangelism and Other Papers, The Ideal Life and Other Unpublished Addresses, The Ascent of Man, Natural Law in the Spiritual World, The Greatest Thing in the World and Other Addresses, A Life for a Life and Other Addresses, The Changed Life, The City Without a Church, Beautiful Thoughts from Henry Drummond, The Programme of Christianity, and much more. In Natural Law in the Spiritual World, Drummond argues that the continuity and order found in the physical universe extend into the spiritual realm. In The Ascent of Man, developed from his Lowell Lectures, he examines evolution through a Christian lens and emphasizes cooperation, altruism, and love alongside competition in the development of life. His most beloved address, The Greatest Thing in the World, presents love as the highest expression of Christian life. Throughout the collection, Drummond returns to themes of faith, service, character, spiritual transformation, evangelism, and the practical application of Christianity to modern society. Bringing together scientific inquiry, evangelical conviction, and compassionate moral teaching, The Henry Drummond Reader offers an extensive introduction to a writer whose message remains thoughtful, challenging, and deeply inspiring....
