      • Résumé :

This book provides an in-depth introduction to the sol to gel transition in inorganic and hybrid organic-inorganic systems, one of the most important chemical-physical transitions and the basis of the sol-gel process. Familiarity with the fundamental chemistry and physics of this transition is essential for students in chemistry and materials science through academic and industry researchers working on sol-gel-related applications. The book features a didactic approach, using simple and clear language to explain the sol to gel transition and the accompanying processes. The text is also suitable for use in short courses and workshops for graduate students as well as professionals.
This fully revised and updated new edition contains a wealth of new content. In particular, it includes a detailed discussion of the chemistry of transition metal alkoxides and organosilanes, and an extended discussion of the sol to gel transition models.

He earned his doctorate in Physics from the University of Padova and has held prestigious positions as an associate foreign researcher at Kyoto University and a visiting professor at the Sorbonne University, Osaka Prefecture University, and Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Prof. Innocenzi has served as the science counsellor at the Italian Embassy in Beijing from 2010 to 2018. His contributions to the field have earned him a place in Stanford University's list of the top 2% most influential researchers. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a member of the European Academy of Sciences, as well as an associate editor of the Springer Journal of Nanoparticle Research. With over 230 scientific articles and multiple books on popular science to his name, Prof. Innocenzi combines deep expertise with a commitment to making complex scientific concepts accessible to a broad audience. His work spans from detailed studies on materials science to engaging narratives on the history and development of key scientific ideas....

        Sommaire:
Plinio Innocenzi is a full professor of Materials Science and Materials Technology at the University of Sassari and has a special interest in science popularization at different levels. He has a doctorate in physics but attended a Classic Lyceum dedicated to Humanities, Art, Latin, and Greek, which is why he has always maintained a multidisciplinary vision and developed a special passion for the connections between science and art. He has dedicated particular attention in recent years to Leonardo's scientific work and has participated in numerous conferences and festivals on the topic. This book is the result of Prof. Innocenzi's desire to make general readers more aware of the multifaceted origins of scientific and technological knowledge....
