        Biographie:

        Heikki Patomaki is a reader in international relations at Nottingham Trent University and research director of the Network Institute for Global Democratization. Prior to this, he was a senior researcher at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, 1994-97. He is an active public speaker, contributor to the press, and consultant in his native country, Finland. He is also the author of a number of books and monographs in both English and Finnish. This, his most recent, book emerged as a response to the Asian and Russian financial crises. It has provided the intellectual basis of a campaign organised by the Centre for Development Cooperation in Helsinki (KEPA) to get the Tobin Tax on to the European political agenda. The book and the campaign have been worked out in cooperation with ATTAC in Paris.

        Heikki Patom?ki is Professor of World Politics at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Previously he has also worked as a Professor of World Politics and Economy at the Nottingham Trent University, UK, and RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. In 2012 he acted as a Visiting Professor at the Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan. Patom?ki's research interests include philosophy and methodology of social sciences, peace research, futures studies, economic theory, global political economy, and global political theory. His most recent book is The Political Economy of Global Security. War, Future Crises and Changes in Global Governance (Routledge, 2008). He is currently working on two new books, Unprincipled Economics (with Jamie Morgan) and Global Futures. Patom?ki is a founding member of NIGD (Network Institute for Global Democratisation) and has also been an activist in the international ATTAC movement from its inception, currently chairing ATTAC Finland....
