He was recognized for his work on marine life and was an expert in his field, which earned him fellowship in the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE). His research focused on the complexities of soft corals, an area where he established himself as a leading authority. He passed away on February 12, 1933, at the age of 71 in Limpsfield, United Kingdom. He had one child, Arthur Landsborough Thomson, who followed in his footsteps, making his own contributions to natural history....
