Aggressive and violent behaviour against the emergency services is not just a myth hyped in the media, but sadly a reality. The author illustrates what it is that causes this type of troublesome behaviour and provides concrete advice on prevention and ways of dealing with threatening situations that arise. The aim is to enhance the ability of emergency service staff to deal with stressful and potentially violent conflict situations. Practical examples support the reader in recognizing critical situations at an early stage and avoiding counterproductive behaviour.
Biographie:
Dr. Ken Oesterreich is a freelance trainer and coach in the management of critical situations in urban, social, and prehospital settings. He is also a contributor to textbooks and author of specialist articles in standard works on emergency medicine discussing the topic of violence against emergency personnel.
