Résumé :
This book presents the latest research findings in modern technological developments based on synthetic chemicals that are highly toxic to the human environment. Unlike the majority of books on appropriate technology, this book does not stop at questioning fundamental issues of current technological development modus operandi. Instead, it offers simple and practical solutions identifying the roots of problems currently being faced by the society. Various types of appropriate energy technologies suitable for cooking, heating, lighting, transportation, and industrial usage are presented. Pathways of conventional fossil fuel based technologies including their impacts to humans and the environment is illustrated. A detailed analysis of the problems of synthetic fuels and benefits in using nature based resources are also catalogued. For the first time, the newly established revolutionary concept of the direct use of crude oil in a jet engine, is presented. The role of current technology development in global environmental perspectives are discussed.
