Présentation Lili Reynaud - Dewar Format Beau livre
- Livre Beaux arts
Résumé : The first-ever monograph on Reynaud-Dewar, one of today's most celebrated multimedia artists French artist Lili Reynaud-Dewar creates environments and situations in which she uses her own body to examine the dual experience of vulnerability and empowerment that results from acts of exposing oneself to the world. Evolving through a range of media such as performance, video, installation, sound, and literature, her work considers the fluid border between public and private space, challenging conventions related to the body, sexuality, power relations, and institutional spaces. This is the first book to document her remarkable career.
Biographie:
LILI REYNAUD-DEWAR (b. 1975) is an artist, writer, editor and educator known for her multifaceted, collaborative projects where the fine line separating the public from the private body vestidated through a wide array of references that include art, design, film, literature, music, theatre, fashion, subcultures, social and gender politics. Born in La Rochelle, France, Reynaud- Dewardeveloped an interest in art as a potential platform to test and explore some of the notions and ideas she learned while studying public law, political theory and before that, dance. Following a brief spell at the prole des Beaux-Arts rn Nantes, Reynaud-Dewar enrolled at the Glasgow School of Art, where she started working on her early performative pieces. Initially executed in front of a live audience, these events were eventually transferred to the private dimension of the studio and filmed ? a strategy that culminated in her dance video series (2011?ongoing), where the artist subverts the voyeuristic gaze of the wewer and questions the Imitations and possibilities of the institutional spaces in which she is invited to exhibit by dancing through their empty rooms. Arded and abetted by a group of collaborators that include fellow artists, students, musicians, family members and personal acquarntanres, Reynaud-Dewar has over the years expanded her n ual vocabulary to film and sculpture while maintaining a critical focus on the popular and obscure aspects of contemporary culture. Since 2010 Reynaud?Dewar has been a Professor of FIne Arts at the Haute Ecole d'Art et de Design (HEAD) in Geneva. In 2013, she was awarded the Prix Fondation d'Entreprise Ricard. Her work has been the subject of solo presentations in international venues such as Belvedere 21, Vienna (2013), the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York (2014), the Contemporary Art Museum Saint Louts (2016) . the Kunstverein in Hamburg (20161 Muse . on, Bozen, Italy (2017), and the Monash University Gallery of Arts, Melbourne (2018), as well as being exhibited in the most prestigious art events, inclua ng the Berlin Biennale (2000), the Pans Triennale (2012), the Lyon Biennale (2013), the Venice Biennale (2015) and the Gwangju Biennale (2016) Reynaud?Dewar lives and works in Grenoble
