Military Family Housing - Is Yours Built on Contaminated Land? This is the story of a federal government contract with a small, disadvantaged construction business and how the system-intended to help small, disadvantaged businesses-destroyed it instead. It is also the story of military families who are being exposed to more than poor business practices... The Contract From Hell offers an insider's view of how a small-business construction company, with the best of intentions, was contracted to build quality homes for military families-but wasn't informed that the homes were to be built on polluted grounds. The resultant exposure caused unexplained illnesses in the families who lived in these homes, and in the ensuing legal battle, the courts justified the actions of the federal government, in essence permitting unfair and bad faith actions of government officials. The contractor went out of business. Written by an active consultant of the project from start to finish, The Contract From Hell examines the real sin-the practice of building residential units on contaminated land, causing suffering and illness for our military families.
Biographie:
The author is a safety and health professional with over 45 years of experience in the field. He was an active participant in the initial execution of this contract between the HUBZone contractor and the Department of the Navy, and he was the last person off the project. Directly involved with all government dealings, he also worked with the attorneys for the various legal claims submitted. His book, The Contract From Hell, is aimed at military families as well as lawmakers, in an effort to bring about an awareness of the homes built on contaminated land.
