Biographie:
Don Fontenelle, Ph.D., has been helping the youth of Louisiana for over thirty years. He specializes in providing parents with effective techniques to help them comprehend and deal with their child's behavioral, social, or emotional problems. Born and raised in New Orleans, he has served as a consultant for many youth programs in the city's vicinity and offers a number of workshops for both teachers and guardians on the different aspects of juvenile behavior. As an active member of the community, Fontenelle has spoken at PTA meetings for many of New Orleans' private and public schools. His presentations focus on managing and understanding child and adolescent conduct and are geared toward those individuals who work with children. An authority on child behavior, Fontenelle has written more than twenty books for parents and teachers on how to work effectively with youths, from the toddler stage through adolescence. Six of these titles have been translated into French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Chinese. After working for medical centers at Louisiana State University and Tulane University, Fontenelle opened his own private practice in 1974. As a child psychologist, he works with mothers, fathers, and youngsters, identifying such issues as academic problems, dyslexia, and learning disabilities. Fontenelle attended Louisiana State University in New Orleans and earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, and a master of science degree in clinical psychology from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He received a doctorate in clinical psychology with a focus in learning theory and behavior modification from Oklahoma State University. Fontenelle is a member of professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists, and Louisiana Psychological Association.
