The book explores K-6 mathematics and enables readers to benefit from directly experiencing how intended curriculum is implemented and enacted in the classroom. They are first introduced to general pedagogy and then the specifics of mathematical pedagogy. The text then moves on to address mathematics curriculum, assessment, classroom management, resources for teaching, and mathematics content. Designed to help ground teachers in best practices for meeting the needs of today's students, Mathematics and Technology in Elementary Education is ideal for courses in mathematics methodology or in-service courses for elementary educators. Penina Kamina, Ph.D., is an associate professor at the State University of New York, Oneonta. Currently, Dr. Kamina is responsible for advising and teaching mathematical content to pre-service elementary education majors. She views mathematics teaching and learning as the negotiation of meanings, with the expert as a facilitator. Her research interests include quality teacher preparation in the discipline. Ray Siegrist, an associate professor in secondary education and educational technology at the State University of New York, Oneonta, is responsible for preparing pre-service teachers in adolescent mathematics education. Professor Siegrist's research interests focus on problem solving and engaging students in mathematics.
