Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English author, illustrator, and naturalist best known for her beloved children's books featuring animal characters, especially The Tale of Peter Rabbit. A pioneer in both storytelling and publishing, Potter retained creative control over her work and was one of the first authors to license character-based merchandise. Beyond writing, she was a dedicated conservationist and sheep farmer, using her success to preserve the English countryside.
