Résumé :
In der vorliegenden Studie wird die Schulform Realschule in ihrer Besonderheit unter den Aspekten Historie, Bildungsgang, Sch?lerschaft, Lehrerbildung, Besch?ftigungspolitik und Schulleistung untersucht und vorgestellt. Es wird gezeigt, dass die Realschule ?ber Jahrzehnte erfolgreich eine solide Grundbildung mit einer anwendungsorientierten fachlichen und ?berfachlichen Bildung verband, die zum Eintritt in aussichtsreiche Laufbahnen in Technik, Handel, Dienstleistung und Verwaltung bef?higte. Im Zuge der j?ngeren Schulentwicklung mit ver?nderten ?bergangsquoten und dem Aufkommen bildungsgang?bergreifender Angebotsformen droht das bew?hrte Modell mittlerer Bildung allerdings obsolet zu werden. In dieser Situation ist eine Besinnung auf die Alleinstellungsmerkmale realer Bildung notwendig.

Konrad Fees ist Professor f?r Historische und Systematische P?dagogik am Institut f?r Schulp?dagogik und Didaktik (ISD) am Karlsruher Institut f?r Technologie (KIT) in Karlsruhe.
