    • Résumé :
The Blue Pen is an intriguing story of young love, hardship, tragedy and blind expectation. Each of the six stories, gives an intimate glimpse into the lives of those who came in contact with an iridescent blue pen and their lives are changed forever. The story begins in England in 1939 with a young nine year old boy, Billy Barnes and a girl called Janet - the blue pen becomes a token for his affection. The pen then travels through a battle in France and ends up in the hands of the Germans and saves the life of a Panzer Major before its journey continues to the bloody shores of Tobruk. Found by an Aussie digger in an abandoned tank on the battle field of Tobruk, the pen takes its next turn where fame, fortune and luck save a mans life. Years later Harry discovers the pen in an Op Shop and it brings him luck, until a sneeky Bowerbird decides otherwise. With the pen safely recovered, Harry gives his lucky pen to his grandaughter, before it disappears in Ballarat. Julia discovers the pen and returns it to its young owner. She is mysteriously drawn to the sparkly pen and learns of its adventurous history.

      Biographie:
As a child in the London blitz, Charles Beagley distracted himself from the horror of his family's situation by making up stories or drawing. His eventual training was at Art School, which equipped him for the many years he spent working in advertising and design. He lived in London initially, did two years National Services in the RAF, worked in Ireland and Belgium and then set up and successfuly ran a Design Consultancy back in England for twenty years. He married and had two sons whose futures concerned him, as things were grim economically in 1982 England. He jumped at the opportunity to move his family to Australia when he was offered a managerial position in design. During his years in England, his writing developed as he wrote promotional text and an occasional short story. Since coming to Australia he has honed his skills, writing over twenty fictional stories, mainly mysteries. To date six of his books have been published with more to come.
