As soon as I finished Bannockburn Binding, I purchased this prequel because the tension and history that exists between Tally and Lee is so much an element that must be overcome in Bannockburn Binding that why it is there is an important part of their story.

...insight into how lonely and guarded a life these guys live.

I absolutely loved this book!! It tells the very engaging story of Tally and Lee through the years/decades/centuries and I found iit to be fascinating!
