Résumé :
Born and raised in a midwestern town that sits on the outskirts of post-World War II events, bright but shy boy named Harry Porter lives an even-keeled life. As he matures, attends college, and prepares for a corporate career, Harry begins dating fellow philosophy student Sylvia Silverstein with no idea of what the future holds. Feeling complete for the first time in his life, Harry happily immerses himself in Sylvia's life and her Jewish traditions. He soon meets her overprotective parents, who teach him he is a visiting guest on Earth with a purpose. But after tragedy strikes and Sylvia dies unexpectedly, a grief-stricken Harry decides to seek solace from his demands by dropping out of college and applying for a job as a bus driver. Twelve years later, he encounters circumstances beyond his control during a snowstorm. Events then send Harry on the journey of a lifetime, during which-with the help of his childhood friend, Quincy-he will make discoveries beyond his wildest imagination. The Meat on the Bone is the poignant tale of one man's unexpected path through life as he peers into the promise of tomorrow and finds the answers to some of life's greatest questions.
Biographie:
Janice Kelley is an award-winning writer and
naturalist, passionate about connecting people
to nature through art, science, writing,
observation and discovery. She delights in
sharing the wonders and curiosities of the outdoor world with youth
and adults during guided walks, informal education programs and
spoken word stories. She draws inspiration from the life and
quotations of John Muir, Aldo Leopold, Joseph Cornell and other
environmental champions.
Janice launched Nature Detectives program in January 2018 for
students to discover the outdoor world by engaging them in hands-on
and inquiry-based learning activities on their school campus. Central
to the Nature Detectives programs are seasonally themed, hour-long
programs in 8-week segments. Additional features include website
with blogs, downloadable activity sheets and resources; leader
training program with leader guidebook; and complementary books
