Point of Origin was my first space opera read and my mind is blown. The story was full of the big existential questions...

This is not a light read by any means but it certainly kept me wanting to resolve the internal and external conflicts posed from the beginning all the way to the end. The main character is an escapist self abusing homosexual that goes against about everything I believe in (except for freedom of sexual/self expression). I was uncomfortable enough to realize how good the writing and maybe the story was. Fein showed me a perspective that far differed from my own. The first half of the story was gut wrenching in many ways and very dark but I kept reading in an attempt to understand. The fact that the story caused me to experience the darkness as a witness showed me how good the writing was. The imagination and ability to stretch my imagination proved to make great storytelling. I would call this a more intellectual read. You don't need to be a physicist to understand it, but I did find myself going back to re-read explanations a few times over to make sure I was following along. For point of reference, I have never taken a physics class. Fein has a beautiful use of language and descriptions throughout the novel and you get a true sense of why the characters are the way they are. This novel is in true dystopian form as well. The New Covenant are brutal and there are descriptions of violence against a number of characters that may be triggering for some. - Amazon Review
