Présentation The Dark O' The Moon de S. R. Crockett Format Broché
- Livres
Résumé :
'The stage is filled from the first with red-coats, gipsies, and Galloway 'Levellers'. Mr Crockett has found again in this sequel to 'The Raiders' the inspiration which grey Galloway gives him with its hills and woods and floods. His descriptions of sky and landscape are always in harmony with the action of the story. To the hostile critic of 'sequels' it must also be admitted that Mr Crockett has produced what, could it be looked at by itself, would certainly have been accounted a most readable and historic romance.'
As the second part of the Raiders 'trilogy', 'The Dark o' the Moon' moves the action on a generation. This time the hero is Maxwell Heron (son of Patrick and May) and the story revolves around The Levellers Revolt of 1724. We are reunited with characters such as Silver Sand, Hector Faa and Marion Tamson as well as 'historical' characters such as John MacMillan of Balmaghie and the Hanoverian Princes. Crockett adopts his familiar style of appropriating big historical events and placing them firmly into the stories of fictional ordinary people to illustrate how history affects everyone. There is action, adventure, mystery, subterfuge and love affairs in abundance and from beginning to end, nothing is ever what it seems.
