Présentation Barry Scrapyard de Keith W Platt Format Broché

Résumé : Keith W. Platt's photographs from the late 1960s through the 1980s capture the gradual transformation of Woodham's scrapyard in Barry, South Wales, from a repository of withdrawn steam locomotives to a hub of the burgeoning preservation movement. These images inadvertently reveal the de-rusting, cleaning, and painting efforts of different preservation groups, as well as the messages painted on the locomotives proclaiming ownership and discouraging the removal of parts. Witness the shrinking number of locomotives as they were sold to individuals and societies and transported to preservation sites and steam railways. Barry Scrapyard is a visual journey through a unique chapter in railway history, documenting the rescue and restoration of these magnificent machines.
A nostalgic look at the final bastion of British Rail's steam locomotives.

There were only a few locomotives left waiting to find a new home...
