Flagler County, Florida: A Centennial History features an American county's 100 year journey from a sparsely populated, rural, agricultural, timbering and non-developed coastal area to recently becoming one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. Flagler County now includes the City of Palm Coast, which is the largest planned community in the State of Florida's history. Similar to most localities that have survived for more than century much has happened over that duration of time. But, dissimilar to most localities the history of Flagler County remains virtually unknown except to only a few devoted local historians and some of its longtime and lifelong residents. You are invited to explore a journey through the history of Flagler County, and discover its many interesting places, where you will encounter some unique and fascinating stories and then wonder how many of them could have remained so reclusive until now.
