Of the factors underlying immediate depth, disparity and conver gence presume a binocular mechanism, while accommodation may operate when there is but one eye. Normally, however, accommodation is closely related to convergence although the relationship is not absolute and is subject to individual variations. On account Of this relationship and the difficulties of ruling out any Of these variables, the factors Of binocular disparity, convergence and accommodation will be considered as one complex function.
