If any one had taken it into his head to say so five years ago (it is five years since paganini breathed his last at Nice), no doubt he would have been prodi? giously laughed at for his pains. And why so? Because at that time the heir had not yet collected all the titles he had to bring forward, nor tho roughly established his claims to the inheritance. Now he has collected the the newspapers of the whole of Europe, that proclaim him the only man worthy and capable of playing paganini's com positions, and of performing them with all the vigour, the brzo, the fancy, the passion, the satanic spirit, in a word, the poetry by which they are distinguished. The are as numerous as his concerts, which, in the short space of five years, already amount to the fabulous figure of nine hun dred and upwards; concerts every one of which was a triumph for the artist.
