This interdisciplinary book presents numerical techniques needed for chemical and biological engineers using Matlab. Since most problems faced by chemical and biological engineers are nonlinear, the model equations generally require numerical techniques to solve them. The problem of validating a solution and comparing between different algorithms can be tackled by testing different numerical techniques on the same problem and verifying and comparing their output against known experimental and industrial data. The book begins by exploring general cases, and moves on to specific ones. The text includes a large number of detailed illustrations, exercises and industrial examples. The book provides detailed mathematics and engineering background in the appendixes, including an introduction to Matlab.
