      • Résumé :
More discussion of community corrections practices in other countries, more coverage applying theory, and more on the use of technology in community corrections sets this book apart from competitors. Additionally, the treatment orientation and the substantive coverage of special needs offenders helps students understand the increasing need for community supervision officers to be well-versed in treatment based approaches and special offender typologies (i.e. sex offenders, mentally ill offenders, offenders with communicable diseases, drug offenders, and so forth).

        New to this Edition:

        - Expanded discussion of evidence-based practices and performance measures in relevant chapters

        - New Restorative Justice chapter

        - Inclusion of end-of-chapter Sharing Your Opinion questions allows students an opportunity to express their own views on issues touched on in the chapters

        - Food for Thought questions at the ends of chapters follow a summary of a relevant research article to have students to think critically about the issues presented in the article summary

        - Updated data and photos throughout the book.
