Résumé : Abbas is a Syrian refugee and a striker on a junior high soccer team of refugee and immigrant players. When his team is sponsored to play a big tournament in Toronto, he is excited to play the top team in Ontario, and reconnect with a friend from Syria. But witnessing a traffic accident triggers Abbas to experience anxiety and flashbacks to the violence he saw back home. He finds ways to conquer his flashbacks and anxiety before the big tournament and also helps his whole team deal with the pressure of the competition. Golden Game is a part of a quartet of books that offers readers insight into the experiences of refugee youth as they come to grips with life in Canada.
Biographie:
David Starr is an author and high school principal. David's books Golden Goal and Golden Game were named among the Best Books for Kids and Teens by the Canadian Children's Book Centre in 2017. He lives in Vancouver, BC....
