My young friends, let me make this suggestion. If you do not like it here in this country, where there is such diversity of achievement, let me tell you where you had better go. If you will go to Patagonia you will find no distinctions. People there all live in the same way; all dress in the same a? and they all eat their food, largely fish, unprepared in the same way that is raw. But if you will drop a Bible and a spelling book among those people, someone will cook his fish; someone will wear more than one yard of muslin as a garment; someone will build a house, and, as they advance in civilization, distinctions will multiply and increase. Is Civilization a failure? I submit the proposition for your thoughtful consideration without ex pressing any opinion.
