Présentation Goat Moutain de David Vann Format Relié

Résumé :
A startling new novel from David Vann, 'one of the best writers of his generation' Le Figaro. Three generations of one family set off on an annual trip to their remote, mountainous hunting grounds. In this wild and idyllic spot they discover an intruder, a poacher. Set over the course of one hot, hellish weekend this is a dark, disturbing and unbearably tense story of a family struggling to come to terms with a terrible crime and its repercussions.
Biographie:
David Vann was born in the Aleutian Islands and spent his childhood in Ketchikan, Alaska. His first book of fiction, the international bestseller Legend of a Suicide, has now been translated into seventeen languages and has won several prizes, including the Prix Medicis Etranger in France. He is also the author of two other novels: Caribou Island and Dirt; and two works of non-fiction. His writing has appeared in Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, the Sunday Times, Guardian, Sunday Telegraph, Financial Times and other magazines and newspapers. A current Guggenheim fellow and former Wallace Stegner fellow, he is currently a professor at the University of San Francisco.
The book has the quality of a ballad or a folk tale . Mr Vann's work is death-haunted . [He] is so adept, in Goat Mountain, at conjuring a world where rationality has no place . This story has the power of a bullet fired from a gun. The Economist The author has constructed a wide beautiful splendid vista tainted by a stream of flowing hot red blood with great sentences with a visceral and fluid prose ... David Vann has a prose and voice that the reader may know of, this novel comes to finalise in his dealings with death, loss, and sacrifice, this story marks a great point in his writing's timeline. One cannot help but feel excited and expectantly wait upon his next novel, on what road he shall traverse and what characters he shall craft with great skill.
