Calarg? postule que la production culturelle des ann?es 2000-2015 tente de combler le vide g?n?r? par l'absence d'un r?cit national qui raconte l'histoire contemporaine du pays. M?moires fragment?es d'une guerre obs?dante, Calarg? focuses attention on the ways in which Francophone artists, writers, and filmmakers have revived the collective memory of the (un)civil war that ravaged Lebanon between 1975 and 1990. Their works both defy and critique the politics of forgetting that was actively pursued by the post-war leadership and attempt to fill a gaping void in the country's national historical narrative. Nonetheless, such efforts are necessarily limited. They are limited by both the persistent feeling that the war is not (yet) over and by the limits of personal narratives in the absence of a national project that ensures and facilitates a collective memorialization of the war.

Carla Calarg? est Ma?tre de Conf?rences ? l'universit? de Florida Atlantic. Elle a publi? de nombreux articles, co-?dit? un volume intitul? Haiti and the Americas (2013) et co-dirig? un num?ro sp?cial de la Cincinnati Romance Review (2011) d?di? ? Assia Djebar.

Carla Calarg? is Associate Professor of French and Francophone Literature at Florida Atlantic University. She has published many articles. She is also the co-editor of Haiti and the Americas (2013) and Assia Djebar: une ?crivaine entre deux rives (2011).
