Résumé : Relational psychoanalysis and Jewish philosophy have many things to say on the dynamics of human relationships, but this is the first book to explore the many similarities between these 2 disciplines. Oppenheim draws on the major relational theorists such as Loewald, Mitchell and Benjamin, and the 3 Jewish philosophers of encounter, Rosenzweig, Buber and Levinas, and explores the many complementary ways in which they explore the features and obstacles of relationships. Covering such central analytic concepts as the maternal dyad, transformation and intersubjectivity, this book casts new light on both the analytic and philosophical understanding of how relationships work and fail.
Biographie: Michael Oppenheim is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Religion at Concordia University, Montreal. His books include Speaking/Writing of God (1997), Jewish Philosophy and Psychoanalysis (2006), and Encounters of Consequence (2009).
