It is the first major volume exploring the complex domestic backgrounds of British Foreign Policy, such as party politics, reform and retrenchment, invasion scares etc. It challenges many myths about the so called Anglo-German Antagonism such as the perceived threat of the High Seas Battle Fleet, the continuity of British Foreign Policy or its balance of power paradigm. It presents a whole panorama of the public sphere and major figures within Edwardian Politics. It combines diplomatic, military, naval, domestic, imperial and cultural politics of Edwardian Britain. It offers a new way of writing diplomatic history in the early age of mass communication. It combines traditional diplomatic and political sources with the adventure, invasion and spy stories It is the first major volume dealing with British Balkan Politics during the Annexation Crisis 1908/9....
Biographie: Andreas Rose teaches Modern History at the University of Bonn. His research interests include the international history of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and the history of Britain and Germany. His recent publications include Die Au?enpolitik des Wilhelminischen Kaiserreichs, 1890-1918 (2013) and, as coeditor, The Wars before the Great War: Conflict and International Politics before the Outbreak of the Great War (2015).
